Special Education and Community Relations

Goal:  
  • Guide the work of the Early Intervention Pre-school team to map curriculum that aligns to the school age Kindergarten curriculum. 
  • Create a positive and well informed transition experience from the A.A.S.D. Early Intervention pre-school and local pre-schools to Kindergarten. 
  • Coordinate with early intervention pre-school and school age staff and administration to restructure individual family transition meetings to better accommodate families and school age staff in preparation for children starting Kindergarten. 
  • Design Kindergarten registration to include a screening process that will allow for early identification of factors that may lead to identification of disability or the need for intervention to avoid identification. 
  • Plan the ABC Camp for the summer of 2018 for children entering Kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year.  
Why:  To build a solid foundation for our earliest learners and ensure that there are transition opportunities that promote success.
